Captured! Escaped L.A. Convict Found and Arrested

Christopher Lee Brown was re-captured without incident by Santa Monica police officers around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A suspect who walked away from jail three weeks ago was back in custody today after being recognized outside a recreation center, authorities said.

Christopher Lee Brown was re-captured without incident by Santa Monica police officers around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. David Oliva.

Oliva said 37-year-old Brown was seen outside the Pico Youth and Family Center near the intersection of Pico and Lincoln boulevards.

Brown had been sought since escaping from a the Twin Towers Correctional Facility on March 12. The previous day, he had been given a jail term of four years and eight months for felony burglary.

Oliva said Brown was being held without bail and faced an added charge of escape.
