Body Found in Burned Car on Marmion Way

Homicide Detectives are investigating the incident, in which a burned body was found inside an SUV at about 2 a.m. Thursday.

A body was found early Thursday morning in a burning vehicle on a street in Mount Washington, police said.

The grisly discovery was made just before 2 a.m. by firefighters who extinguished the fire at 4859 Marmion Way, said Sgt. Wayne Guillary of the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Division.

Guillary said it could not be immediately determined if the deceased person was male or female or how old the person was.

The body was found in a reclined position inside the vehicle, he said. A news photographer at the scene said the vehicle appeared to be a van or SUV.

According to ABC7, the vehicle was a Ford Expedition.

Police also reported receiving calls about shots fired in the Sycamore Grove Park area at about 1:38 a.m., but they are not yet sure if the reports were related to the burning vehicle.

Update: A spokesperson for the coroner's officer told Patch that the body was severely burned, and that it could take several days to make an identification.
