Blog: Mount Washington Homeowners Alliance to Host CD1 Forum

A community invitation for an upcoming CD1 candidates forum

As a result of the once-in-a-decade redistricting, the City Council approved new lines dividing 15 council districts.

Council District 1 now includes all of Mount Washington.  All Alliance members, including those who used to be in CD14, should join us to meet their new candidates.

Residents of other neighborhoods included in the newly redistricted council district are also invited to attend this forum. All will have a chance to submit questions as time permits on topics of concern for their families and neighbors, on the future of the District and beyond. Refreshments will be served.

The following candidates have been invited and are tentatively committed to attend:

Jesse Rosas -  Businessman
William Morrision - Neighborhood Council Boardmember
Jose Gardea- Councilmember's Chief Deputy
Gilbert Cedillo - California State Lawmaker

When: November 19, 2012, 7:00 P.M.

Where: Carlin G. Smith Recreation Center

Cost: Free

Here is the candidates election guide. Jesse, and all the others can qualify for public funding on page 42. Sounds like a great opportunity to get some free money from the taxpayers. I'm just sayin... http://ethics.lacity.org/PDF/publications/candguides/pub_CityCandGuide2013.pdf

That is a great link. Thanks. There sure are a lot of strings to get the matching funds. Candidates have to raise $150,000 in order to qualify. I seriously doubt most of the candidates actually follow those rules to get those funds. The developers have plenty of money for Jose and Gil Cedillo. I bet they are happy to take their money. And, then the developers will get what they want from their elected officials that they bought off. Do not elect a councilmember that engages in back office deals with developers like do nothing Reyes or Cedillo. Let's not elect people that do not live in the district like Jose or Gil Cedillo. How long have Jose or Gil Cedillo lived in the district? Where are they from? Who is funding their campaigns?

Does Gil Cedillo live in the district? Does Jose? How long? Who is funding their campaign? Developers?
