Avenue 50 House, Among 13 Citywide, is Reportedly a Hard Sell

It may be a sellers' market out there, but some houses aren't moving.

Highland Park’s residential real estate may be the hottest in the country this year, as the online real estate brokerage Redfin reported in January, but clearly not every house on the HLP market is being bought up.

In fact, a house in Highland Park figures on a Curbed L.A. list of 13 Los Angeles houses that are having a tough time being sold, even though the housing bubble appears to have returned to L.A., according to Redfin.

The house is on 1021 N. Ave. 50, a short walk from Café de Leche on York. Curbed L.A. calls it one of the “non-terrible house in popular locations that for sometimes obvious-but-fixable reasons have failed to sell (they've all been on the market for roughly two to three months and are all under $1.5 million).”

The three-bedroom, two-bath house went on the market two months ago for $499,000. “Though priced like one, it's no flip,” says Curbed L.A., adding: “Updates look to include a colorful paint job and new roof.”

Highland Park-Mt. Washington Patch went by the house Monday evening and found a handsome pug sitting in the window overlooking Avenue 50 (see photo). Lest anyone get any ideas, it should be said that the pooch does not come with the house.
