Homelessness in NELA Training Next Weekend

Next weekend Recycled Resources for the Homeless, a small nonprofit organization based in Highland Park, will be hosting a training for its newest project, Neighbor-2-Neighbor. This project was created to assist our most at risk chronically homeless neighbors and we need your help to make it successful. Neighbor-2-Neighbor (N2N) is similar to a buddy system because it partners a volunteer with a homeless individual identified most at risk by Recycled Resources for the Homeless.  Recycled Resources is working on securing housing opportunities however because we do not have any full time staff we must rely on the dedication and passion of those living in our community to make this project successful. Can you be a buddy?

Community volunteers will attend a one-day workshop that entails education surrounding homeless issues, the philosophy of outreach and engagement, safety, mental illness and substance use. Volunteers will also be educated about community resources and how to navigate these resources to assist their buddy. Volunteers will be paired with another volunteer, working in partnership, to assist their assigned homeless individual.

All the information about the project can be found here: http://recycledresources.org/gpage3.html
