Highland Park/Eagle Rock Homeless Need Your Support

Recycled Resources for the Homeless is a small volunteer driven nonprofit based in Highland Park that works to improve the lives of our neighbors without homes. We are hosting something called a Homeless Registry in Highland Park and Eagle Rock in 2 weeks. The Registry is a part of the 100,000 Homes national campaign: http://100khomes.org/. Communities across the U.S. have been holding Registries which involve a brief volunteer training and then surveying our homeless neighbors. The large-scale goals of the Registry are to identify the most vulnerable and chronically homeless in our community and begin to strategize how best to meet their housing and health needs. Our Registry will involve a volunteer training on Friday night May 31st and then two days of surveying our homeless neighbors in Highland Park and Eagle Rock on the weekend of June 1 and 2nd. The Registry is not intended to be the final step to address homelessness, but one of the first steps toward doing more for those who are chronically homeless in our community -- for those individuals who are struggling with debilitating mental illness and long term homelessness. We are hoping our neighbors can support this effort however possible. We need volunteers to survey and help us locate the individuals who are most at risk should they remain homeless in order for us to begin trying to help them locate housing. At this time Recycled Resources for the Homeless has identified over 210 chronically homeless folks living in Highland Park and Eagle Rock, can you help us improve these lives? Please use this link to register for the event: http://100khomesnela.wufoo.com/forms/100000-homes-northeast-los-angeles/ If you need more information feel free to contact me at piratebec@aol.com or use our website to receive news about our efforts to end homelessness in Northeast LA: www.recycledresources.org Thank you in advance, Rebecca Prine Director and Highland Park Resident
