NC Plan Review Survey

Earlier this year a group of current and former neighborhood council board members, citywide, began the Plan Review Process where selected members from 3 regions (each region comprised of approximately 32 neighborhood councils) met regularly to draft comments and suggestions to improve the neighborhood council system.

The final comments and suggestions will be referred to the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners and then onto the City Council where changes to certain laws that govern the neighborhood council system may change.

The 3 working groups are finalizing their recommendations and the last joint meeting of all 3 working groups will take place on Tuesday, July 30th at the Glassell Park Senior and Community Center at 3750 N. Verdugo Rd, 90065 at 7:00pm.

In February, earlier this year, a public input session was held where stakeholders could weigh in and comment on what issues pertaining to the neighborhood council system they wanted to see addressed (http://highlandpark-ca.patch.com/groups/hector-huezos-blog/p/bp--stakeholder-input-session-neighborhood-council-plan-review).  This information was used to inform and educate the decision making for the plan review board in the Central/East/Northeast Region that Highland Park is a part of.

Now that the working groups are near the end of the Plan Review process, they are asking stakeholders to weigh in on the recommendations.  There are various topics covered and a survey is available to get stakeholder input on the recommendations from the 3 working groups.

The survey is available for anyone to take here:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/9motions

At last count (Thursday night), only about 110 stakeholders had weighed in citywide, and only about 4 were from Highland Park.  Please share the survey with your friends and fellow Angelenos to help ensure that the neighborhood council system remains responsive and relevant to neighborhood improvement and civic engagement.

More information on the Plan Review Process is available at the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment website: http://empowerla.org/ncplan/

Highland Park was represented in the Central/East/Northeast Working Group by Carmela Gomes (HHPNC founding board member) and Hector Huezo (current board member).  This working group also consisted of neighborhood councils that now make up the Alliance of River Communities (http://eaglerock.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/eagle-rock-encouraged-to-participate-in-alliance-of-river-communities)
