Patch Blog: 'Northeast L.A. Pushing Forward With Obama' Raises $24,100 for President's Campaign

Thanks to all those who made this terrific Obama fundraiser possible.

We've turned in $24,100 to the Obama campaign, all collected from last Sunday's "Northeast L.A. Pushing Forward With Obama" event.

Many thanks to the 100-plus people who braved the 96-degree heat. Thanks to our speakers: Gil Garcetti, Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, City Councilmember Ed Reyes, CD 1 chief of staff Jose Gardea. Thanks to 51st Assembly candidate Jimmy Gomez for his support.

Our MC, Robin Reiser, moved the afternoon along and was really funny (as always). The musicians were world-class: Jim Kweskin, Juli Crockett, Lisa Dee, Michael Feldman, David Jackson, Padrick Peper, and Daniel Mark. Dee Dee Cheriel gathered an amazing collection of art.

Thanks to our host committee: Jose Gardea, Anne and Paul Ahrens, Jeff Boxer, Gwen Freeman, Andy Jardini, Pat Griffith, Scott Burleigh, Sharon Kyle, Dick Price, Connie and Keith Rohman, Cynthia Ruiz, Doug Dawson, Tony Scudellari and Jain Sekuler.

Many thanks to all the artists who donated work. Keith Rohman: nobody does auctions as well as you do. Thanks Audrey Fisher and Desi Coale for the decorations, Liaison Limo for the parking, Geneva Burleigh for the bartending and the homemade bread. Thanks to our neighbors and all the union people who came and contributed, also the L.A. Progressive and Unionosity blogs for getting out the word. (No on prop 32! It's as important as anything else on our ballots.)
