Blog: NELA Restaurants Provide a Feast For Saturday's Lummis Day Fundraiser

Lummis Day's May 4 fundraiser dinner offers great food and entertainment.

Señor Fish, Foliero's, El Arco Iris, My Taco and Fiesta Foods have donated some great menu items to the May 4 Lummis Day fundraiser dinner. It should be quite a spread. And along with he dinner, the wine and the auction offerings, this year’s fundraiser will feature some truly unique entertainment.

The Lummis Day committee is very proud to present a unique historic/theatrical production at our fundraiser: an excerpt  from “L.A. Founding Families,” a journey through our city’s unique history.  A new production centering on the diverse peoples central to the founding of Los Angeles, this compelling journey of history and theater—still a work in progress—will be acted, live, amid the historic structures preserved at Heritage Square.

An entirely original work, this exploration of our city’s historic diversity is guided by the head of Duende CalArts, Marissa Chibas, who formerly headed CalArts acting program. Additional participants in this project include teachers and historians from CalArts, El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument, Trans Arts, UCLA Department of History in the Schools, faculty and high school students from the School of History and Dramatic Art, a public high school in Glassell Park on the Sotomayor campus.
