Parklet to be Unveiled Today

The first of its kind street infrastructure project will provide pedestrians a place to sit and gather.

Councilman José Huizar will be on hand today (Saturday, Feb. 2) at 1 p.m. as York Boulevard's long awaited parklet is unveiled.

The first of its kind piece of street infrastructure will convert what is currently a no parking zone on York Boulevard into a street porch where residents can sit and gather.

The project, which will not reduce parking on York Boulevard, will be located in front of Do it Best Hardware on York Bouelvard, between Avenues 50 and 51.

The parklet was first pitched all the way back in January 2011 during a public forum hosted as part of Huizar's "new York" Vision plan, an effort meant to spur business revitalization on York Boulevard.
