No Easy Trend Tracking for Local API Results
Recently released API results show Highland Park's and Mount Washington's combined 14 schools are all over the map in terms of performance.
Figures released by the California Department of Education show that the Los Angeles Unified Schools District (LAUSD) has made considerable progress on its Annual Performance Index (API) score, but still lags behind State and County Averages.
According a Department of Education report, LAUSD's API score for 2011 is 728, an increase of 19 points over its 2010 score.
However, that score still ranks below the Los Angeles County average of 762 and the overall State of California average of 778.

According to the DOE's report, students across every ethnic demographic within LAUSD increaed their API scores between 2010 and 2011.
Students who identified as Hispanic or Latino, who make up 75 percent of LAUSD's population, saw some of the biggest gains on the test. According to the DOE's report, Hispanic or Latino students raised. their overall score by 21 points from 686 to 707.
