3 of L.A.’s 21 ‘Secret Gardens’ are Right Here in the Neighborhood

Their names probably won't come as a surprise—once you click here.

Now that June is here and the onset of summer less than three weeks away, it’s a good time to think about some of the gardens you’d like to visit for some peace of mind or picnic in with the family.

As it happens, the Curbed L.A. website has an intriguing list of 21 green retreats in L.A .County—and as many as three of them are right here in the Highland Park-Mount Washington area.

Titled “21 Secret Gardens and Green Spaces Hidden Around L.A.,” the list comes with a handy “secret gardens map [of] undervisited green spaces to explore this summer.” The destinations range from the Virginia Robinson Gardens in Beverly Hills to Cascades Park in Monterrey Park.

The three green spaces in our own neighborhood backyard are probably not a huge surprise. They are the gardens at the Self-Realization Fellowship in Mount Washington, the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens in Cypress Park, and Debs Park in Montecito Heights.
