Community Debriefing On Our Homeless Neighbors

This weekend Recycled Resources for the Homeless, a Highland Park based nonprofit organization, under the guidance of a national grass root movement, 100K Homes Campaign, completed a detailed homelessness registry of Highland Park and Eagle Rock. The goal of this registry was to gather detailed information about our neighbors without homes: how long they've been homeless, where they lived prior to being homeless, any medical / or mental conditions, substance use / abuse, and other factors in order to prioritize housing for those most likely to die if left living on the streets. On June 15th we will be announcing what we learned and the next steps we will be taking, which we know will require the support of the entire community. We believe that we cannot end homelessness unless we know every homeless person by name, their story, and their barriers to housing. The registry we hosted this weekend was only step one in doing so. Please join us next weekend at Eagle Rock City Hall to see how you can get involved in ending homelessness in Northeast Los Angeles and also get to know your homeless neighbors. Thank you.
