Scoops Coming to York Boulevard

With so many new restaurants opening on York Boulevard, Highland Park residents will soon have a new place to go for dessert.

The arrival of a Scoops Ice Cream Shop on York Boulevard, inside the vacant building next to Italiano's, has been rumoured for nearly a year.

On Thursday, The Eastsider L.A. confirmed that those rumors are true.

From the Eastsider:

Now, Scoops owner Tai Kim, is preparing to open a new location in Highland Park. People familiar with his plans said that Kim will open a store and production facility in an approximately 1,200-square-foot storefront now under construction near York Boulevard and N. Avenue 51.

Scoops got it's start on Heliotrope Drive in East Hollywood, and is known for it's bold flavor combinations. When it opens, it will join and as the latest eatery to play a role in slowly changing the flavor of York Boulevard.

More details as we get them.

York Blvd is adjacent to Oxy...and because of it, ... is more apt to draw an eclectic demographic of intellectuals, entrepreneurs, university students, local and longstanding residents, than Fig is.. But it does appear that York has the potential to become like Melrose was in it's starter days.. Hopefully, York will be a haven for independent, non-corporate businesses in the years to come. It's quite the intimate and pedestrian-friendly street. Love your screen name, Bobo!

thanks Fromaggia, i live closer to Fig and have a store there, so it would be nice to have some new shops opening near me. i still wish a few big names would come in town so i don't always have to go to Pasadena or Glendale so much.

Does anyone know if there is any shop space available on York to either rent or purchase?
