Fusion Burgers Earning 'Great Feedback'

Three weeks into the new venture, Manuel Munoz said Fusion Burgers is gradual building a devoted customer base.

Three weeks after launching Highland Park's newest burger restaurant, 22-year-old Manuel Munoz Jr. said his clientele is gradually growing.

"It's growing little by little," said Munoz, who with the help of his father, Manny Sr., opened Fusion Burgers on York Boulevard at the former location of Tacos El Michuacano.

Munoz said that, so far, Fusion's most popular offering is the Green Turkey burger, with ingredients that include avocado, alfalfa sprouts and radishes.

Customers have have also been raving over Fusion's house-made ketchup, the ingredients to which Munoz won't be sharing any time soon.

Munoz said, "Basically, people are loving our deep flavors," a phrase that has quickly become something like personal slogan.

While Munoz has supreme confidence in his menu, he's still working to improve Fusion Burger's decor. A new sign was recently placed over the faded one for Tacos El Michuacano, and new chairs were brought into the living room. He's also hoping to install a new awning that will allow for outdoor seating.

"We're trying to make it a better experience for the customer," Munoz said.

Not that those who've tried Fusion Burgers already have had much to complain about.

"We're very thankful, because the feedback has been great," he said.
