Get a 'Taste of Fresco' in Hermon Saturday

Owner Jon Murga is hoping event will be a boon for business.

More than six months after its grand opening, owner Jon Murga is still working hard to establish the market as a neighborhood fixture.

Murga has recently made stops at meetings of both the and the , urging attendees to make the trip to Hermon to shop at the market.

In addition to touting the store's selection and service, Murga has also been spreading the good word about Fresco's commitment to community service. As previously on Patch, about a dozen of Fresco's staff members are hired through the Los Angeles Mission and paid for through the non-profit Fresco Community Foundation.

On Saturday, Fresco Community Market will host "The Taste of Fresco," an open house styled event at which customers can sample, for free, Fresco's fare and get to know the staff.

"The Taste of Fresco" is scheduled to take place from on Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fresco Community Market on 5914 Monterey Road.

I live in Monterey Hills and am so gald Fresco Market is here, Good produce, excellent meat counter with a nice selection of fresh seafood. The shelf prices are competitive with Trader Joe's and Vons. I hope our neighbors will shop there....we have needed a good market in that location for a long time. Cheryl

I also live in Monterey Hills and find this market 1st class. And the staff is wonderful; I like the fact they hire people from Homeboys/Homegirls.
