7-Eleven Wants You to do the Slurpee Dance Today

Get with it on July 11 by ducking into the 7-Eleven on Figueroa for a free 7.11-ounce Slurpee beverage—and then mixing it up a bit.

With an expected high of 78 degrees on Thursday, it’s fair to say that the weather has cooled down considerably in L.A. But it’s still warm enough to grab a frozen drink, especially it happens to be free.

On Thursday, July 11, the convenience store chain 7-Eleven celebrates its 86th birthday by offering free frozen drinks. Participating stores across the nation, including the 7-Eleven on 5138 N. Figueroa St. in Highland Park, the 7-Eleven on Colorado Boulevard in Eagle Rock and the store on 4220 Eagle Rock Blvd. in Glassell Park, will give away 7.11-ounce Slurpee drinks from “eleven to seven”—predictably, that is, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Click here to access the 7-Eleven store locator, which highlights stores within a given zip code.

The convenience store chain has given away millions of free Slurpee beverages on July 11 since 2002. In fact, July 11 is known as 7-Eleven Day—and to celebrate this year’s birthday, the convenience store chain has launched a video (attached) that teaches hardcore Slurpee lovers how to do the Slurpee Dance.

Typically, 7-Eleven stores warn that the best way to ensure that you don’t miss out on an icy treat is to arrive early before limited supplies of the Slurpees run out.
