Six Months Later, History of Highland Park Mural Still Looks Great

The restored mural continues to shine.

Originally painted in 1977, the mural depicts cultural icons of the Arroyo in rich sepia tones. It had fallen into deep disrepair in the decades following its creation.

The mural was restored through a cooperative effort between Council District 14, the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC), and AT&T--owners of the mural's building on the corner of Avenue 56 and Meridian Street.

According to Baca, the mural was treated with the best anti-graffiti coating possible, which should prevent future tagging.
