MorYork Reopens to Public For Monthly Concert Series

The Gallery will open its doors once again on Friday, May 25.

It's been more than four months since last welcomed the public on second Saturday Gallery Night, but on Friday, May 25 owner Clare Graham will once again open the doors to this cabinet of wonders to present an evening of "Secret Songs."

Just the first in what Graham hopes will become a monthly event, MorYork will present three musical acts inside the gallery, including Homesick Elephant, Moira Smiley and VOCO, and Tommy Santee Klaws.

The concert is free and open to all ages.

"It is a rare occasion for this personal collection to be opened up to the public," said Sara Kelly, who is helping Graham promote the event. "But now we are pleased to have the opportunity to invite you in for a monthly concert series."

MorYork was once the epi-center of NELAart's Second Saturday Gallery Night, attracting visitors to the corner of York Boulevard and Avenue 50 to view Graham's large and eclectic collection of sculptures and items.

Graham continues to produce work at MorYork, but no longer participates in Second Saturday due to a confrontation with Council District 14 Staffers over for participating in the monthly event.

Representatives from Council District 14 said no such fees were ever suggested.

Secret Songs is schedule to take place Friday, May 25 from 7-10 p.m. at MorYork Gallery, located at 4959 York Blvd.
