La Culebra Park Will Host 'People's Market' Saturday

Winter gear and holiday gifts made by local artisans will be on sale.

With the cold weather encroaching, La Culebra De La Tierra Park will hold a People's Market on Saturday, Dec. 22 from noon-4 p.m. to help locals gear up for the winter months.

From the La Culebra Facebook Page:

Support your local economy this holiday season. DIY artisans will be offering their creations at the park for your holiday shopping needs.

Wood Work, Crochet, Warm Weather Knits, Jewelry, Soaps, and many other non-corporate offerings. Join us from 12 to 4.

La Culebra is located at 240 S. Ave. 57. Since 1992, the park has been maintained by the non-profit organization ACLA, whose mission was to transform blighted area into thriving urban oasis.

At the park, ACLA host shows, classes, workshops and unpaid internships that mainly relate to business administration, community organizing and maintenance of the park and the organization, Executive Director Efrim Chiavetta told Patch in 2011.

This is a delightful park. It has a mosaic culebra running its length, fruit trees, benches, a small stage. A hidden jewel, a great place to play hide and seek, picnic with your sweetheart, meander with your muse... Plus it has a variety of events, music, poetry, art, politics.... and a thriving collective community.
