Producer Kyle Wegner contacted Patch earlier this week with a link to the above trailer for Quixote in L.A., which was shot last year in Highland Park.
The plot tells the story of male protagonist who decides to steal a conquistador's uniform from the Southwest Museum of the American Indian--but, of course, there's much more to it than that.
"Our goal was to make a film that both [writer/director Eric Putzi and I] would be interested in watching, one that portrays the Mexican American community and Mexican Americans in an atypical way as compared to many Hollywood produced films," Wegner said. "The film can be described as both satire and comedy. Mexican American culture has a long history and tradition of satire."
Quixote received an honorable mention award for Best Narrative Feature in the 2011 Los Angeles Reel Film Festival. Wegner said that he and Putzi are now looking for a distributor.
