Gallery Night Offers an Array of Wonders (Photo Slideshow)

A photo journal of the artistic delights offered inside some of the galleries along York Boulevard.

NELA Art's Second Saturday Gallery Night was again an occasion for studios, galleries and shops across Highland Park, Eagle Rock and Cypress Park to open their doors to the art loving public.

Our photo gallery features images from MorYork Gallery, , Platform Gallery, Matters of Space and , all of which are located between Ave. 50 and 51 on York Blvd., making the corridor one of the premiere places to stop on gallery night.

Among the featured artists in our photo gallery is Highland Park resident and Patch's own David Orozco, who displayed at MorYork his stunning and mind bending works of Hyperbolic Crochet.

Orozco explains that his love of the sciences, mathematics and philosophy come into focus through the crocheted patterns of organic shapes.

Among the creations that were on display were jellyfish fashioned from fishing line, coral crocheted from yarn and a large, dense, gray brain.

Many of Orozco's pieces represent years of work, some of it completed while Orozco focused his own brain on other tasks.

"If I was growing up today, I would be classified as having ADD," Orozcoe said.

Orozco will be leading several workshops on Hyperbolic Crochet and Origami at MorYork in the coming weeks.
