sos art group join us if you've lost someone to sucidie or attempted suicide In 2001, Kimberly Strouse lost her 17 year old sister, Kristin Rita, to suicide. Kristin was a freshman at Parsons The New School for Design, Kim was a 24 year old recent graduate of New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. She wanted to be in a creative environment, only talking groups existed. Kim founded Rita Project.

Rita is a global movement to stop suicide and celebrate life. Rita Project is a 501c3 national non-profit organization devoted to using the arts to help all beings connect with the power of creating, and in doing so, foster transformation. We fulfill our mission through Studios, Workshops, Exhibitions, to offer programming which nurtures healing, assists with suicide prevention education, and raises public awareness of the importance of the arts to mental health.

Write on the walls! Smash a plate! Paint a rock! Bang a drum!
