Lummis Day Fundraiser
The annual party benefitting the Lummis Day Festival will be held Saturday evening, May 7 at Lummis Home, 200 E. Ave 43, with music, dance, and refreshments served in the warm atmosphere of the historic building‘s courtyard.
A silent auction of collectibles, wines and art will also be part of the event. All funds raised by the event will help support the 6th Annual Lummis Day: The Festival of Northeast L.A, scheduled for Sunday June 5. Ticket and program information will be available beginning late March at the Lummis Day Community Foundation website, www.lummisday.org. Tickets will be sold via Paypal and will also be available beginning in April at Lummis Home and various neighborhood retail locations, including Antigua Coffee House (3400 North Figueroa Street), and Galco‘s Old World Grocery (5702 York Boulevard).
June's sixth annual Lummis Day Festival will again have its main stages at Heritage Square Museum (3800 Homer Street), where the best of home-grown Northeast L.A. music, dance, food and community resources will be presented amid the historic and architecturally significant buildings that have been preserved on the Heritage Square site. As always, the two-part Festival‘s opening morning event will take place, beginning at 10:30 am at Lummis Home where the day will begin with readings by L.A.‘s most critically acclaimed poets, music, art exhibits and refreshments. Art exhibits will continue throughout the day while performances shift to nearby Heritage Square Museum, beginning at 1:00pm.

As in previous years, a series of poetry readings and workshops will be held at Los Angeles public library branches during the weeks preceding the event. Information on the series will also be available at the Lummis Day website.
This year‘s Lummis Day sponsors include KPFK public radio 90.7, the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council, the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council, the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council, the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, the L.A. County Arts Commission, the Highland Park Historic Trust, Councilmember Jose Huizar and CD 14, Councilmember Ed Reyes and CD 1.
