Where to Watch Locally: March Madness

Here's a handful of places in and around the neighborhood to catch a game.

The quest for the Final Four in already underway as college programs across the country are currently competing for a chance to secure their spot in the field of 68 for the NCAA's national championship tournament. To help you prepare for the madness, we've compiled a list of some of the best local venues to grab a drink and cheer on your Alma Mater or whoever's Alma Mater you have picked to go all the way in your office pool.

1. Pull up a stool at the only sports bar in the neighborhood, . With multiple flat screen televisions, you’ll be able to catch a flurry of games, guzzle cheap beer and root for your favorite teams. If you get bored with halftime commentary, throw some darts or play a game of pool until the action picks back up.

2. Enjoy some good food and watch college hoops at Highland Park’s trendy gastropub, The York. The York boasts a wide selection of beers on tap and a menu with a variety of options. The York is located at 5018 York Blvd. and is open daily from 3 p.m. until 2 a.m.

3. Johnny’s is a small, yet popular local dive bar that features reasonably priced drinks. View the head to head matchups from this years expanded field of 68 teams on Johnny’s TV or projected screen. Johnny’s is just a few doors down from The York at 5006 York Blvd.

4. Grab your bracket and head over to in Eagle Rock. The Oinkster is a fantastic spot to keep on eye on your tournament favorite and grub on classic American eats such as burgers, fries, chicken, and pastrami. The Oinkster also offers a rotating selection of wine and craft beer.

5. is another good choice to take in March Madness. Three flat screens hang on the wooden décor of the bar, so you won’t miss any of the excitement or upsets. The Black Boar is located at 1630 Colorado Blvd. in Eagle Rock.
