Video: 'A' is for Anton in Highland Theatre Sign

Young Highland Park resident will forever hold a small part of local history thanks to parents' charitable donation.

Young Anton Ascher may still be too young to walk, but he's already a part of Highland Park History. The young resident, son of Louisa Van Leer and Rodney Ashcer, is the A in the Highland Theatre sign.

As reported by Highland Park-Mount Washington Patch back in December, Anton's folks secured his place in the bright lights of the sign through a $250 donation toward the relighting effort, which was spear-headed by the Highland Park Heritage Trust and Amy Inouye of .

Five-month-old Anton Ascher will have a bright spot in Highland Park's history.

Next Spring, once the historic Highland Theatre sign is restored and relit, one of the 10-foot letters will glow in his honor.

"We can see the sign from our house, and when he learns the alphabet it will have such a special meaning and he will have a connection to this community," said Anton's mother, Louisa Van Leer.
