Take it from us, there's no need to overthink Valentine's Day. There's no way you can go wrong with roses and Lucy at Highland Park Florist is well stocked for the holiday. A short stem bunch of a dozen of roses goes for $25, medium for $35 and long stem for $45.

Aki's cozy dining room is an ideal location for an intimate Valentine's Day dinner. Aki is open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday. We reccomend the Cherry Roll.

●         Save on Roses at ProFlowers.com with the WTF Podcast
You can save on flowers and support local comedy by going to www.proflowers.com, clicking the microphone and entering the code "WTF." Through the code, you'll get a dozen long stem roses for $29.99 and support the podcast of Highland Park comedian Marc Maron. Proceeds from every puchase will go to Maron, who brings world-famous comedians to his home in Highland Park every week for in depth conversations.

Not everyone has time for a Valentine's Day dinner on Monday, so if you're looking to celebrate a day early we recommend El Pescador Restaurant 5230 N Figueroa St. Give they mixed ceviche a try.

Instead of waiting in line at a restaurant, why not stock up at and then head over to Moon Canyon Park in Mount Washington for a romantic pic-nic? The small park is a great place to lay out a blanket and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Next week, we want to highlight five great non-profit organizations in our community that are really making a difference. Contact us with your suggestions?
