Franklin High School Artist Honored at Dodger Stadium By Congressman

Emerita De la Cruz, third place winner in the the 31st Congressional District's annual student art contest, was honored at Dodger Stadium on Saturday.

This year’s winners of the 31st Congressional District Student Art Competition were honored at Dodgers' Stadium before the home team's game against the Washington Nationals on Saturday, July 23. 

Among the winners was Highland Park resident Emerita De la Cruz, who earned third prize for her painting. De la Cruz was honored in front of the Dodgers' stadium crowd by Congressman Xavier Becerra (D-CA) on Saturday evening. A recent graduate, De la Cruz will attend the University of California, Berkeley in the fall.

The first place prize when to Brenda Baraja, a recent graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, and second place went to Alondra Ramirez, also a recent Thomas Jefferson graduate.
