Five Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 20

Clear skies are scheduled to return today, providing the the opportunity to get back outside and enjoy the neighborhood.

1. Two exhibits are currently on display at Ave. 50 Studio. Circulo Magico/Magical Circus by Armando Arreola and Love Vibes, a group exhibition by single artists. Arreola’s production features 14 theatre scenes of magicians at work. Ave. 50 Studio is open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Both exhibits are viewable until March 6

 2. The Glass Studio is having an open studio session for individuals who would like to work on their existing glass projects. Tools will be provided and some supplies are available during the four hour session. The class starts at 1 p.m. and costs $35.

 3. Guest instructor Yvonne Savio will teach Organic Sundays at Milagro Allegro community garden. Savio is a master gardener and was named ‘Horticulturist of the Year’ by the Southern California Horticultural Society. Savio will demonstrate how to recycle and develop new uses for various household items. Planning on attending? Make sure to bring a plastic gallon jug and an egg carton. A $10 donation is suggested to join in on the fun, however, nobody will be turned away due to a lack of funds. The class begins at 2 p.m.

4. Drop in on a free tai chi class at the Audubon Center at Debs Park. Learn techniques that will teach you how to ease your tension and stress. Volunteer instructor Wayne Qian will also show you how improve your breathing and balance. The class is held in the courtyard and begins at 8:30 a.m.

5. There’s just over one week left to view the Haiti Relief Group Art Exhibition, now showing at José Vera Gallery in Eagle Rock. José Vera Gallery is also accepting donations on behalf of relief organizations that are assisting the people of Haiti. The gallery is located at 2012 Colorado Blvd. and is open from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
