Five Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 14

Dine on Italian cuisine, catch a flick, or view an exhibition this Valentine's Day.

1. Several classes will be in session at 1st Defense Mind Body Studio, including qi gong, yoga, kickboxing, and tai chi for seniors. Class fees and start times vary. Contact the studio at (323) 259-9525 for more info.

 2. Three new movies have landed in rotation at historic Highland Theatre. Now playing is From Prada to Nada, Gnomeo and Juliet and The Mechanic. Tickets for all shows starting before 6 p.m. are offered at a bargain matinee price of $4. For later showings, senior citizens and children admission is $4, while adult tickets cost $6.

 3. The final installation of TBA: A Group Exhibition in 7 Parts is being featured at Kristi Engle Gallery. The gallery is open daily from noon until 6 p.m. while the exhibition is on display. The seventh segment is viewable until Feb. 18. Kristi Engle Gallery is located at 5002 York Blvd.

 4. Feast on traditional Italian pasta dishes such as lasagna, rigatoni, spaghetti and ravioli at Folliero’s Italian restaurant. The menu also includes a wide variety of pizzas, salads, sandwiches and side dishes to choose from. Folliero’s is open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. and noon until 9:30 p.m. on weekends.

 5. Currently on display at José Vera Gallery in Eagle Rock is the Haiti Relief Group Art Exhibition. Donations are being collected by the gallery on behalf of relief organizations assisting Haitian people. José Vera Gallery is open daily from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. and is located at 2012 Colorado Blvd.
