Five Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 13

Numerous activities happening in Highland Park on Sunday.

1. Benefit from a free tai chi class offered at the Audubon Center at Deb’s Park. During the session you’ll learn techniques that will help improve your overall breathing and balance. Additionally, you’ll also find out methods to ease your tension and stress. The class starts at 8:30 a.m. in the courtyard.

 2. If you’re looking for a new restaurant in the area to try out, head over to Cinnamon Vegetarian Restaurant. At Cinnamon, you can find Latin American inspired dishes with a generous selection of vegetarian and vegan options. Cinnamon is open from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Sundays and is located at 5511 N. Figueroa St.

 3. A food preserving class is scheduled to take place at Milagro Allegro community garden. Here you will gain knowledge about traditional fermented dishes and also learn how to make pickles from scratch. You’ll also conjure up a beverage made from sauerkraut, sauer-reuben (turnip/rutabaga), and kombucha. A $5 donation is suggested to join in on the 11 a.m. class.
