In the last two years, though, we've witnessed the rise of a new tradition that is likely to be enjoyed even by those who despise illegal fireworks. We're talking about time-lapse captures of Highland Park on the 4th of July.

This year's show was captured by Youtube user Nerdbombk. It's an impressive spectacle to behold--especially with the sounds of composer Phillip Glass accompanying the show instead of raucous M80 blasts.
