Best of Patch: Highland Park's Best Coffee Shop

Where is your favorite coffee shop in Highland Park-Mount Washington?

For Patch's inaugural "Best of" poll, we're asking readers to vote on their favorite coffee shop in all of  Highland Park and Mount Washington.

Our community is full of hard working families, students, and striving artists, all of whom rely on a good cup of coffee to kick-start their day.

There are plenty of places to grab a great cup in the neighborhood, but now's your chance to vote for the best. Voting will take place until Friday morning, and the winning coffee shop will be crowned next week.

So don't just vote for your favorite--tell us why it's the best. The triumphant café will be named "Patch's Best" coffee shop and receive a certificate to display for bragging rights, as will all subsequent winners.

Here are the nominees. If we missed anything, let us know, and we'll add it to our poll.

Because the poll is not scientific, it is not the sole factor in determing the winner. The winner wil be determined by the Patch editor, based on the poll and reviews in Patch places. Please vote only once!

I love Antigua Bread! Easy parking, always friendly service, fantastic coffee, good music - what more could you ask from a coffee shop? I cannot say the same for the other choices - in one way or another, they fall short, but Antigua Bread is consistently the best.

Antigua Cultural Coffee Shop and Cafe de Leche. Don't make me choose, they are both great in their own ways!

Isn't Antigua Coffee in Cypress Park? Just saying... ;)

Panaderia Delicia doesn't even have seating. If it's included then shouldn't donut shops be included too?

Antigua Coffee has been a big influence in developing the Figueroa street corridor in Cypress Park, where Avenues Gangs used to be present. And I did say "Used to be" this neighborhood feels and looks safer, thanks to their determinations and commitment. Thank you for existing in this neighborhood and thank you for bring specialty coffee to Us!

Big Mamas Donut's are the best, but the coffee is bad. You can also argue that Cafe de Leche is boarderline Eagle Rock. Antigua Cultural Coffee House is also right near Mt. Washington , I vote for Antigua CCH.

It's time for a cafe cubano joint, to open up at the York Blvd Nursery. Cafe Tropical on Sunset has the best coffee.

cafe de leche is borderline? eagle rock? LOL. I dont think so. Cafe de leche is the anchor coffee shop the OG that started and is helping gentrification move forward. It's one the reasons why York Blvd is safe and has walkability these days.

Cafe de Leche gets my vote. Matt Schodorf sees a bigger picture, always, in everything. Fair Trade means that the coffee grower did not get ripped off. His profit was commensurate with what the beans are actually vended for in the retail market. The coffee at Cafe de Leche tastes like delicious equality. yum, and cluck

Its good to see a local business in Cypress Park take such a huge risk and be successful in such a short amount of time due to their persistence in building and giving community. These guys are the most generous folks in the neighborhood! Go Antigua Coffee House 90065.

Antigua Cultural Coffehouse transforms communities! When they left El Sereno 5 years ago, that strip of Huntington Drive has since failed miserably. Nice to see them thriving in Cypress Park. Yancey is also supporting another indie coffeehouse opening soon on Alhambra Ave. The man deserves a humanitarian award along with best coffee.

I'm all about sustainable transformations WITH community involvement. I wanted to love Cafe de Leche since its walking distance from my house, but everytime I've gone there I've been greeted by patron's sneers... and why does no one say "thank you" when you hold the door open?? Anyway... I just don't feel a welcoming environment. Probably nothing to do with the owners, but I skip it now. I found that at Antigua Cultural coffee house I run into so many of my work & home neighbors, plus they're creating sustainable environments right outside their doors. Wait... don't they roast their own beans? Yeay Sustainability! I've also had some great dialogue with the workers and patrons... I've been given good book recommendations ... all that jazz. I also know that Antigua supports community events/efforts both in and outside of Highland Park. Major props for that... communities should work together for progress.

Antigua Cultural Coffeehouse serves great coffee, delicious muffins, and tasty sandwiches. Come for the great coffee, stay for the cool, casual, and unpretentious atmosphere. Thanks to the owner Yancey Quinones, the Antigua Cultural Coffeehouse not only brews up coffee but also local community involvement. Come and discover the Antigua Cultural Coffeehouse.

I will make an extra effort to go to Antigua Cultural Coffeehouse for their Cafe Con Che. If I'm on York, it's Cafe Leche and their coffee is great. I'm blessed to have them both in close range and easily accessible. Hip Hip . . .Hooray!
