Preserving Superior Market, Farmers' Market, Food Trucks

Your guide to what's happening in the neighborhood.

1. Superior Market Preservation

The Planning and Land Use Management Committee of the Los Angeles City Council is scheduled to meet at 2:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 5, in room 350 of City Hall, to discuss efforts to protect the Googie-style exterior of Superior Market on Figueroa and Avenue 45. Highland Parkers are encouraged to attend the meeting and make their voice heard about preserving the local landmark. Click here to view the meeting's agenda—and remember to fill out a speaker's card before the meeting. 2. Highland Park Old L.A. Certified Farmers' Market & Outdoor Fair

Highland Park's weekly Farmers' Market is scheduled today, Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Avenue 57 and Marmion Way, adjacent to the Metro Gold Line. This is a special kind of market: Proceeds go to the North Figueroa Association, a nonprofit group that will use the money for the security, cleanliness and improvement of the North Fig corridor and community. Questions? 3. Food Truck Feast

Highland Park’s weekly food truck feast unfolds at 5:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 5, in the parking lot in front of the former Figueroa Produce building, located at 6312 N. Figueroa St. Food trucks from across Los Angeles are expected to be there until 9 p.m. Stay tuned for details.

4. Neighborhood Council meeting

Mark your calendars: The Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council is scheduled to hold its monthly board meeting tonight, Thursday, Nov. 7, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Highland Park Adult Senior Citizen Center, located at 6152 N. Figueroa St. The meeting is open to the public and Highland Park residents are particularly encouraged to attend.
