1. Alleged killer of 7-Eleven clerk to be arraigned

2. Mount Washington Local Issues Meeting

The Mount Washington Local Issues Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. today, Thursday, Jan. 9 at the preschool room of the Carlin G. Smith Recreation Center, 511 W. Ave. 

3. Kiwanis Club meeting

The Kiwanis Club of Highland Park is scheduled to hold its weekly board meeting today, Thursday, Jan. 9. The club will discuss upcoming opportunities in 2014, including a selection of a candidate for this year's Distinguished Service Award, and possibly a new art contest with award recipients recognized on Lummis Day on June 1. The Kiwanis will meet as usual at Milo Terrace Baptist Church Community Room, 754 N. Avenue 50, from noon to 1:30 p.m. The meeting is free; lunch is $5 at the door. As always, attendees are encouraged to bring their ideas for a better Highland Park.
