Maximiliano Public Hearing, Late Night Holiday Shopping

1. Maximiliano public hearing

A public hearing at the Los Angeles Department of City Planning is scheduled today, Thursday, Dec. 19, for a conditional use and zone variance permit for Maximiliano, the Italian restaurant owned by chef Andre Guerrero on the corner of York and Aldama. The hearing, before Associate Zoning Administrator Oliver Netburn, will be held at 9 a.m. in room 1020 on the 10th floor of Los Angeles City Hall, 200 North Spring St.

2. Late Night Holiday Shopping and Knitting

Pop-Hop Books & Prints, the cozy, eclectic studio that encourages you to shop small, shop local right next to Café de Leche on 5002 York Blvd., will remain open late tonight, Thursday, Dec. 19, to help you with gift ideas from its seasonal specials and selection of books. Your last-minute holiday knitting needs, if any, will also be taken care of. There will be treats.

3. Kiwanis Club meeting

The Kiwanis Club of Highland Park is scheduled to hold its weekly board meeting today, Thursday, Dec. 19. The Kiwanis will meet as usual at Milo Terrace Baptist Church Community Room, 754 N. Avenue 50, from noon to 1:30 p.m. The meeting is free; lunch is $5 at the door. As always, attendees are encouraged to bring their ideas for a better Highland Park.
