Halloween Celebrations, Kiwanis Meeting

1. Halloween at Highland Park Rec Center

The Highland Park Recreation Center is hosting a haunted house and a variety of games and arts and crafts for Halloween today, Thursday, Oct. 31, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. People of all ages are welcome. 6150 Piedmont Ave, (213) 847-4876. 

2. Halloween at Ramona Hall Rec Center

The Ramona Hall Recreation Center is hosting a haunted hallway, costume contest and a variety of games, activities and arts and crafts for Halloween today, Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The events are meant for children aged 3 years to 12 years. 4580 North Figueroa St. (323) 225-4960 

3. Kiwanis meeting

The Kiwanis Club of Highland Park is scheduled to hold its weekly board meeting on Thursday, Oct. 31. The Kiwanis will meet as usual at Milo Terrace Baptist Church Community Room, 754 N. Avenue 50, from noon to 1:30 p.m. The meeting is free; lunch is $5 at the door. As always, attendees are encouraged to bring their ideas for a better Highland Park.

4. ‘Behind the Scenes’ Southwest Museum Tour

Mark your calendars: The El Plan Del Southwest Museum Task Force, a local voluntary organization dedicated to connecting individuals in an effort to find ways for the long-term sustainability of the Southwest Museum, is organizing two tours of the museum on Saturday, Nov. 2. The first tour, at 1 p.m., will be bilingual and is limited to 50 people. The second tour, at 2 p.m., will be in English and is also limited to 50 people. Click here to visit the task force’s website and view details on how to register.
