1. Northeast LAPD's Senior Lead Officer Annual Summit Tonight

Meet your LAPD senior lead officer face-to-face tonight at the Greek Theater. Some 500 people are expected to be there—you should, too. The event starts at 6 p.m. at The Greek Theatre, 2700 N. Vermont Ave., 90027. For more information or to RSVP, contact Sgt. Ruben Arellano at (323) 244-5712.

2. Kiwanis Club Board Meeting

Sit in on the Greater Highland Park Kiwanis Club Board meeting this afternoon and share your ideas for a better Highland Park with the board members. Time permitting, the board may even feature a condensed slide show of the Kiwanis’ 2013 international convention in Vancouver, Canada. The Kiwanis meet at Milo Terrace Baptist Church Community Room, 754 N. Ave. 50, from noon to 1:30pm. Visitors are welcome for the meeting, which is free. Lunch is $5 at the door.

Galco’s Third Annual Summer Soda Tasting is scheduled this coming Sunday at Galco’s Soda Pop Stop, on 5702 York Blvd. All proceeds from the event will go to the Friends of the Southwest Museum Coalition, which is devoted to keeping the treasures of the Southwest Museum within the community. Call Stan Moore at (323) 256-1024 to register as a volunteer.
