Workshop Will Focus on Parkway Safety, Beautification

An "Historic Arroyo Seco Parkway National Scenic Byway" community workshop will be held at the Ebell Club from 6:30-8:30 p.m., with community members invited to discuss the following topics.

Local motorists who have ever found themselves driving along the Arroyo Seco Parkway while mentally logging complaints, concerns and potential improvements will have a chance to sound off on Tuesday, Dec. 6, during a community meeting to be held at the Highland Park Ebell Club.

An "Historic Arroyo Seco Parkway National Scenic Byway" community workshop will be held at the Ebell Club from 6:30-8:30 p.m., with community members invited to discuss the following topics.

  • Parkway beautification and destination enhancements
  • Parkway safety concerns and solutions
  • Connecting Arroyo Seco Parkway travelers to our neighborhood destinations, trails, bikeways, and pedestrian corridors
  • Improving the Arroyo Seco corridor traveler’s experience.

A fatal accident on the Parkway in August has reawakened community concerns regarding the dangers of driving along the Arroyo Seco Parkway, one of the oldest freeways in the country.

According to the California Dept. of Transportation (Caltrans), a "Corridor Management Plan" is now being developed for the Arroyo Seco Parkway, and a series of community meetings are scheduled to be held.

Those who cannot attend Tuesday's meeting in Highland Park also have the opportunity to attend a forum to be held on Monday, Dec. 5, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the community room of the South Pasadena Civic Library.

Oh shoot, I didn't look at this in time. Any posting of the minutes available? I don't know that I could participate but would be interested in keeping up with initial suggestions/concerns discussed.

Thanks for getting the word out though!

Was there any discussion on the improvements that were done on the parkway so far?
The improvement work that was done does not look complete. I had a conflict with another meeting that night. Can they check the schedules before they plan the next meeting so we all have an opportunity to attend?
