Update: According to Los Angeles Metro, normal Gold Line Service has resumed.
Los Angeles Police Department officials continue to hold a Metro Gold Line train at Avenue 60 in Highland Park as of this hour after it struck a woman who was attemping to cross the tracks at about 10:45 p.m.
Authorities said the woman, who they suspect was homeless and "probably intoxicated," is now in critical condition at a nearby hospital.
Passengers were held on the train for investigation for approximately 30 minutes before being allowed to disembark.
According to witnesses, the train was traveling through Highland Park from Pasadena.

I think that they are only allowed to hold the train for 24 hours, unless they charge it with a crime. Then there's arraignment and bail hearing. It could be a while before they let those passengers off.
But you know who I really feel sorry for? The woman that was hit.

I wasn't aware that a train could be charged with a crime. I feel sorry for the train engineer or conductor, who couldn't possibly stop in time to avoid hitting someone who wandered into his path. Can you imagine living with that memory?
