Stuff Highland Park-Mount Washington Says
"Sh*t People Say" videos have gone viral. So, what do we say?
Chances are, if you're even a casual user of social media sites like Twitter and Facebook, you're probably aware of the "Sh*t People Say" videos, which have started a viral revolution.
Kyle Humphrey and Graydon Sheppard, creators of the "Sh*t Girls Say" video series, ignited the meme with their two minute video--which depicted a female protagonist rattling off a string of close to home quips.
Earlier this month, New York City Designer/Comedienne Franchesca Ramsey struck YouTube gold with her own spot-on satire with "Sh*t White Girls Say ... To Black Girls." Ramsey's video used disarming humor to spark a conversation about racial dynamics, while getting more than 1.5 million hits in 48 hours.
What makes both these videos so funny and so popular is just how specific they are. The actors aren't saying anything particularly funny, but they are flicking on that all important "I say that! My girlfriend says that! My white friends say that!" switch. There's just something about the exchange of shared knowledge that we all previously thought was intimate.
Also, note the "Sh*t L.A. People Say" video above, which would be more aptly titled as "Sh*t People from the West Side Say." We know there's a difference; we can do better.
What do we, people on the Eastside, say? In Highland Park and Mount Washington, we live in a pair of distinct communities with their own cultural flavors. How has that influenced our way of speaking?
Drop your dialectical quirks in the comments section below, and we'll use them in Patch's own "Sh*t Highland Park-Mount Washington Says" video.

"When is that restaurant on Ave 64 going to open?"
"Did you see they put up a fancy sign four months ago and STILL haven't even come close to opening?"
"'Garvanza's: Comida Por La Vida'? How about 'Garvanza's: ABIERTO'?!"
