Security Guard Fires Handgun During King Taco Robbery

Despite firing the shots, a security guard was unable to thwart a pair of alleged thieves at the King Taco stand in Cypress Park.

Gunfire failed to thwart a pair of suspected thieves who robbed the King Taco in Cypress Park on Thursday evening.

The robbery occurred around 11:30 p.m., when two men hit the King Taco at 1118 Cypress Ave. and fled with cash, said Sgt. Wayne
Guillary of the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Station.

A security guard fired two shots into the air as the robbers ran from the scene, Guillary said. He added that no one was hit by bullets and no one in the restaurant was injured during the robbery.

A description of the suspects was not available.

The security guard was not arrested for firing the weapon, according to police.
