Second Saturday's Array of Art Returns
The lowdown on Second Saturday's artistic offerings.
Second Saturday of every month, the good folks at NELAart--that’s the Northeast Los Angeles Arts Organization--organize a wonderful evening of art and community for you, yes you, to enjoy. The weather will be nice, the art beautiful and the food everywhere, so go forth and see what there is to be seen, and be seen.

Mystery Wreck, Works by Dan Van Clapp
What’s this all about? Owner Amy Inouye tells Patch, “If we told you more, it wouldn't be a mystery... We can tell you that you will be amazed, astonished, and astounded by the wreckage.”
A new place for art and cool stuff in our community is Finster Studio, at 2638 N. Figueroa Street in Cypress Park.
The shop carries about 90% vintage furniture, clothing, jewelry, and art.
Owner Sharon-Kate Sancer tells Patch, “Part of my love of vintage isn't just that the pieces are generally more finely crafted and more beautiful than anything manufactured today, but I'm also big on the green aspect of diverting as much as possible from our overburdened landfills.”
For Second Saturday they present Melissa May Curtis's show, Primal Forces: A Journey Into Abstraction.
Curtis says, “I don’t try to define my art for anyone else, but rather let the audience decide for themselves what they see and how it makes them feel.”
Go take a look and tell us how you feel.
York Boulevard
At the other end of Avenue 50, on York Boulevard, there are always many places to explore. There will also be additional bicycle parking available in front of Café de Leche on Saturday evening, so if you prefer to peddle, you'll be well accommodated. These next few galleries are on York Blvd, between Avenues 50 and Ave 51.
The show on Saturday is Wall Flowers by Gretchen Kimball
Platform sells fashion, jewelry, housewares and other objects made by their friends, small designers or just things that they've collected while traveling.
At Matters of Space at 5005 York, you will find an interior design and architecture firm with a storefront featuring art and jewelry from local artists. They also showcase an artist every month.
This unique shop is closing this month because of family reasons. The shop should be open Saturday, and there may be art and the usual goodies to see and buy. And say goodbye.
Eagle Rockin'
Second Saturday is multi-neighborhood affair, here's what's happening in Eagle Rock this weekend.
Visit Cactus Gallery on Eagle Rock Boulevard, and find I'll Be Your Baby Tonight, a LOVE-themed exhibit, poetry and music will be there for us that night.
This group show features original work that depicts love and most pieces incorporate a heart--whether anatomically or symbolically.
You'll also find Ricardo Lira Acuña on poetics and David Strother on electric violin at 7:30 p.m., followed by percussion with Craig Casey 9 p.m.
And check out the tree in front.
Head over to the Wonderland for We Heart You! "a cute Valentine's Pop-Up Event with trunk shows by designers: Cupcake Fields, Honey My Heart, La Petite Deer and Leanna Lin."
Lin is also working on a special limited-edition jewelry collection with the art of Ming Ong, and will be featuring her in the Wonderland's February Pop-Up Art Corner.
