Santa Ana Winds are Blowing In: Share Your Photos

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for winds gusting to 80 mph, with low humidity, from Wednesday night through late Friday afternoon.

Might want to dismantle that backyard canopy and bring in the lawn furniture - some serious Santa Ana winds are blowing through So-Cal.

Winds gusting upward of 80 mph are expected to whip the southland by Thursday, a condition that, mixed with low humidity, increases fire hazards, according to the National Weather Service.

Winds this strong can knock down trees and power poles, overturn patio furniture and cause other flying debris, as well as cause dangerous driving conditions, the weather service warned on its website.

By Wednesday evening, the winds kicked up to about 40 mph, and they  are expected to continue through Friday with gusts of up to 60 mph. Sustained speeds of 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage, the weather service noted.

Close windows and secure outdoor lawn furniture, or other objects that could hurtle into your neighbor's yard, weather officials advise.

Expect palm fronds aplenty to adorn driveways and roads in the coming days as the wind continues to blow.

Like, last winter, when the Twitter hastag #LARain was all the rage, #LAWind began to pick up traction on Wednesday evening.

Local comedian Marc Maron--who records his bi-weekly podcast from his Cat Ranch in Highland Park--post the following on Wednesday evening: "what's with the wind here in LA all of sudden? Are we under attack by ghosts. Everything sounds all haunted outside up here."

We want to here your feedback about the rain, as well. Submit your photos of fallen palm fronds in the media section of this article and share your comments below. And be safe!

Patch will continue to monitor the scanners to keep up on any major wind related incidents in the coming days.
