A 21-year-old man shot multiple times in an alley on Tuesday evening was hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Update

Police have yet to make an arrest in the Tuesday afternoon shooting at York Boulevard and Toledo Street that hospitalized a 21-year-old male, according to Detective Rick Ortiz.

Ortiz added that an initial description of the shooter provided by police dispatches--that of a white male in his early 20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build and blond/brown hair--was not accurate.

A 21-year-old man shot multiple times in an alley on Tuesday evening was hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Police were called to the alley near York Boulevard and Toledo Street on reports of shots fired at 4:50 p.m., said Los Angeles police Officer Karen Rayner.

She said the shooting appeared to be gang-related.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was rushed into surgery, Rayner said.

As of 7:25 p.m., officers were still on scene within an active perimeter looking for the suspect.

Officials on scene were concerned when the victim's mother appeared and it looked as if she was having a heart attack. But she did not need to be taken to the hospital, Rayner said. "It apparently was an anxiety attack."
