Electrical Boxes Get Mural Makeover

The murals feature indigenous plants and animals.

A Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative (LANI) grant is responsible for three new murals being painted in Highland Park by artist Carlso Callejo.

On Tuesday afternoon, Callejo was putting the finishing touches on his mural painted on an electrical box on North Figueroa Street near the Gold Line tracks across from La Estrella.

Callejo explained that the grant for the murals was applied for by Central City Action Committee, a graffiti abatement program that operates in Highland Park.
