NELA to Celebrate Veterans Day With Parade Sunday

The seventh annual Northeast Veterans Day Parade will begin with a solemn ceremony in Eagle Rock and then proceed through Highland Park.

Northeast Los Angeles will honor those who have served in the armed services on Sunday with a Veterans Day parade, which will begin in Eagle Rock and proceed through Highland Park.

The festivities will begin with a solemn ceremony at 11 a.m. at Eagle Rock City Hall.

Following that, the seventh Northeast Los Angeles Veterans Day Parade will begin at 1 p.m. at Fire Station 55 at 4455 York Blvd. in Eagle Rock and head east along York Boulevard, ending in Highland Park, just east of Figueroa Street.

The grand marshal will be Daniel L. Van Dyke, who was raised in Eagle Rock, manages a family business in Highland Park and served in the Army in Vietnam from 1970-1972, in Korea from 1977-1979 and in Army intelligence.

A stage show will follow from 3-5 p.m. in the Highland Park Adult Senior Center parking lot at 6152 Figueroa St.

This year's parade is sponsored by Councilmen José Huizar and Ed Reyes, the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council, the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council, the Glassell Park Neighborhood Council, Occidental College and the Eagle Rock Chamber of Commerce.
