KCET Spotlights 'The People of Highland Park'

Followers of the documentary can now hear from all 51 of the local contributors.

More than 50 Highland Park and Mount Washington residents, business owners, artists and politicians contributed to KCET's recent Highland Park Departures series. Now, all the insight from those local experts can be found in place.

From Aldama Elementary School bi-lingual teacher Angelina Seanz to Flying Pigeon Bike Shop Owner Josef Bray Ali to retired police officer and tireless community volunteer Richard Ledesma and everyone in between, each video interview can be found on KCET's website.

From KCET:

In seven chapters, Departures recounts the rich cultural history of Highland Park with video interviews, slideshows, maps, and editorial content. These are the people who helped make that happen.

KCET's seven-part documentary series delved into the social, cultural, political and artistic movements that defined the Arroyo; from the arts and crafts movement of the early 20th century to the Latinoization of the neighborhod to the emergence of new business leaders in the 21st century.

As previously reported on Patch, KCET's Highland Park documentary was the latest in a series that has featured historic communities throughout Los Angeles, including Chinatown, Richland Farms and Venice. The Los Angeles River has also gotten the Departures treatment from KCET.
