HHPNC to Host Graffiti Removal Talk Thursday

David Bermudez, head of the Central City Action Committee, an Angeleno Heights based company contracted by the city to remove graffiti tagging, will speak at Thursday's meeting of the (HHPNC).

Central City is responsible for graffiti cleanup through Council District 1, which includes parts of Highland Park, Mount Washington and Glassell Park.

Bermudez will give a brief address about the Central City's graffiti abatement efforts and take questions from meeting attendees.

"If you have questions about graffiti in CD 1 area, plan to attend the meeting," said HHPNC board member Janet Dodson.

According to their directory listing on Echo Park-Silver Lake Patch, Central City is a "a non-profit program where minority youth can work in their community.  Central City Action Committee spearheads a graffiti-abatement program funded by the City of Los Angeles; the graffiti is removed daily to instill a sense of pride in neighborhoods."

In 2010, Central City's efforts took a major hit after one of their two pressure washers was stolen, doubling the amount of time it took to remove graffiti.

The Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council will meet on Thursday, July 19 at 7 p.m. at the Highland Park Adult Senior Citizen Center at 6152 N. Figueroa Street.
