Farley Building to Present 24 Hours of Mike Kelley

The memorial will display Kelley's video art.

The arts community--both local and global--was hit hard when the was announced on Feb. 1.

Monuments have been erected to Kelley's memory throughout Highland Park, the neighborhood where the nationally renowned artist plied his trade for more than two decades.

For fans and critics deeply respected Kelley for his versatility as an artist. Before launching his art career, Kelley was a key member of the influential Detroit-based punk-rock band Destroy All Monsters.

In his career as an artist, worked across several mediums--one of them being video. His most noted work in that genre was the massive Day is Done--a full length musical that delved into the seedy and sublime world of American subcultures.

This weekend, friends and family will celebrate the life of Mike Kelley by screening 24 straight hours of his video art at the Farley Building in Eagle Rock.

"For the Love of Mike" begins at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, and runs until Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Farley Building, located at 1669 Colorado Blvd. in Eagle Rock.
